Back in January 2019, the living skateboarding legend Tony Hawk tweeted about the "Space Jam" movie sequel "Skate Jam" that almost happened when he was approached by Warner Bros. back in 2003 for him to be the star of the film they are about to create which will feature Looney Tunes just like the original movie "Space Jam" with the basketball legend Michael Jordan, however Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes squad will be riding skateboards together with Tony and probably doing 900 in a vert ramp.
in 2003, I was requested to meet with Warner Brothers about doing a film tentatively titled “Skate Jam.” They were bringing back Looney Tunes with “Back In Action” & then wanted to start on my project immediately. A week later Back In Action bombed & Skate Jam was shelved forever pic.twitter.com/9giKzBnlWH

Apparently, the box office failure of Looney Tunes: Back in Action kept Skate Jam stay on the ground which Tony Hawk explained on his Instagram live that Warner Bros. thinks that it flopped. Before Lebron James was pegged to star for "Space Jam 2" it was supposed to be Tony Hawk to lead in the set of the same universe. According to reports, the original plan was to make Space Jam 2 with MJ, but Michael Jordan didn’t want to return on set for some reason.
This is the second time that Tony Hawk reiterated this information to the mass and he is actually willing to be in the movie and still patiently waiting for it to happen. Who knows maybe next year we will be surprised that there will be a trailer about the movie that got away.
