Skateboarding legend Robie McKinley recently passed away in Hawaii, and his family and close friends are coming together to honor his life and legacy.
They have raised enough money to bring Robbie home and give him a proper send-off.
A Celebration of Life is planned for McKinley to give back to all the people that donated and give the community a chance to say goodbye.
Robie was known for his incredible talent on a skateboard and his passion for skating. He was an inspiration to many and helped to shape the culture of skateboarding.
His sudden passing shocked his loved ones and the wider skateboarding community, who are now coming together to remember his life and contributions to the skate culture.
Robie's sister Jeniffer Geckas is hosting the Celebration of Life event on Santa Monica beach on May 20th to honor Robbie's life. His friends made logos for 250 shirts to give to the community.
At the event, they will hand out at least 200 shirts. Also, the family will hand out Jersey Mikes Subs and refreshments. There will be a DJ, and we will take Robbie's ashes out to the water and scatter them.
The McKinley family is giving away everything, so there is no cost for anyone to attend or receive anything, like shirts and food.
The event is a fundraiser, with all proceeds supporting skateboarding causes and initiatives close to McKinley's heart. By attending the event, community members can help ensure that his legacy lives on and that future generations of skateboarders can benefit from his contributions.
