After a life of professional skateboarding, the President of Commune Capital, Mikey Taylor, decided to be a public servant and to help the ones in need - not just in the skateboarding community but to the masses.
The pro skater turned financial guru officially wins the City Council of Thousand Oaks in California.
Taylor announced his victory via his Instagram account. "In February, I asked Jen what she thought of me potentially running for city council," He sad. "At that time, she was 4 months pregnant and I was busier than ever with Commune Capital."
"Honestly, I thought she was going to say absolutely not," Taylor said. "I wasn't really ready for the response she gave me."
According to Taylor, his wife said, "this isn't great timing, but you would be perfect. And the only reason I could see you saying no is out of fear and that is not a reason for not doing it.""
"She knows me too well." He added. "Mention fear to me and I'm a go haha! Thank you to everyone who has helped out along the way. Every volunteer, donor, voter, and everyone who encouraged us along the way. I appreciate you all so much!"
"I still can't believe we did it! We're planning our celebration party now. I'll let everyone know the final details," Taylor explained.
