The $13.4 million box office hit 2005 skateboarding movie "Lords of Dogtown" is headed to television at IMDb TV. The free ad-supported streaming service by Amazon is in the works of making a TV show trademarked by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The true story of the 1970s group of young Venice Beach Zephyr Skateboards Team transformed skateboarding from a pastime into an international phenomenon that helped skateboarding to the mainstream in the United States. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke also directed the 2005 Lords of Dogtown movie, but the story has not been further adapted until recently.

According to Deadline, Shawn Ryan's MiddKid Productions and Sony Pictures TV where the company is based, is the one behind the one-hour TV program that will be set against the local skate scene in Southern California and centers on a hell-raising teenage girl growing up in the foster care system. Soon after, she falls in with the skateboarders who idolized the riders of the Zephyr skateboarding team. The series will be written by Kat Candler, who previously served as showrunner for the OWN show Queen Sugar.
