The National Governing Body for skateboarding in the United States, USA Skateboarding, had a rough year.
With all the scandals, the Olympic Chair, Gary Ream, resigned due to multiple governance and monetary issues, and employees quit due to horrible treatment and lousy management.
During the complaints and public outcry, USAS has fixed the issue by appointing Don Bostick as the new Chair, replacing Gary Ream, and hiring Johnny Schillereff as CEO/President.
As a great addition and icing on the cake, skateboarding legend and The Berrics' co-founder Erik Koston is officially the new USA Olympic Skateboarding team captain.
The Berrics and Koston shared a post. "USA Skateboarding announces Eric Koston, one of the sport's most prolific and celebrated skateboarders, as its new Team Captain. Koston was hand-selected to lead Team USA to victory in the 2024 Games in Paris by industry maverick and newly appointed USA Skateboarding CEO Johnny Schillereff."
"USA Skateboarding, our athletes, and our country deserve a leader of tremendous skill, integrity, and accomplishment," Schillereff said. "This is Eric Koston."
"When Johnny approached me to be the Team Captain of our Nationals team and mentor the skateboarders' who represent our country in the Olympic games, I was honored," said Koston.
